Is Sown free?

The whole Bible in the Berean Standard Bible, World English Bible and King James Version.

Supporter is for people who want to go further, or simply want to keep Sown going. It has the same tools, plus unlimited saved verses and up to four profiles so the whole family can learn on one phone. It is $1.99 a week through the App Store, cancel anytime, and it keeps Sown independent: no ads, no selling data, ever.

Do I need an account?

No, and that is the best part. Open Sown and start reading. • Nothing to sign up for. No email, no password, no verification code, no "create a profile" screen standing between you and the Word. • Your verses stay with you. Saved verses, progress and streaks live on your iPhone, not on our servers. There is no account to be hacked, leaked or sold. • Room for the family. Profiles let several people keep their own verses and progress on one device, still without an account. • Honest by design. The only thing Sown sends us is anonymous usage statistics, spelled out in our Privacy Policy.

How do the practice tools work?

Three tools, each one asking a little more of you. Together they take a verse from "I recognize it" to "I can say it from the heart".

Fill It In removes a handful of words and gives you a word bank. You tap the missing words back in order. It is the first step: your eyes learn the shape of the verse and the words that matter most.
Type It Out asks for the whole verse from memory, one word at a time. Sown grades every word as you go, so you find out exactly where your memory is solid and where it slips.
Recite & Reveal is the real test. Tap the mic, say the verse out loud, and each word you get right comes into focus on screen. Speaking it is how you'll use it in life, so it is how you prove it here.

Grading is fair, not fussy: capitalization, punctuation and small slips in pronunciation don't count against you. Missing or wrong words do, and Sown shows you each one.

What happens when I get something wrong?

Sown treats a miss as the next thing to learn, not a failure. • You see it immediately. A wrong tap or a missed word is marked in place, with the right word shown, so the correction lands while the verse is still in front of you. • You get a scorecard. Every round ends with a percentage and the words you missed, and a one-tap Try again so you can go straight back at it. • Every round counts. Finishing a practice earns XP whatever the score. Score 95% or better and you earn a Word Perfect bonus on top. • Your weak verses surface. Sort your saved verses by lowest average to see which ones need another pass, and your daily reminder can name a verse that is due.

How does Sown help me actually remember, not just practice?

Memory is built by coming back. Sown is built around that. • Short, daily. A few minutes a day beats an hour once a week. The daily goal of 50 XP is reachable in one or two rounds. • Streaks you can keep. Hit the goal and the day counts. Do it again tomorrow and the streak grows. It's a gentle nudge, not a guilt trip. • Climb the ladder. Start a new verse with Fill It In, move to Type It Out once it feels familiar, and finish with Recite & Reveal. Each tool pulls the verse a little deeper. • Verses that find you. The Verse widget puts Scripture on your home screen and lock screen and rotates it every few hours. The Scroll serves up a fresh verse to read, listen to with word-by-word narration, or save. • Read it in context. Any verse opens in the full chapter, because a verse you understand is a verse you keep.

Sown is built for iPhone and needs iOS 26 or later. • iPhone: the full app, the Verse widget and the lock-screen widget. • iPad: you can install it from the App Store and it runs in iPhone layout. • Android: there is no Android version. If that changes, we'll say so here first.
